Music is one of the most important tools any filmmaker can use. Unfortunately, the path to selecting music, finding the rights holders, knowing appropriate budgets and rights fees is really hard and complex pathway to navigate – especially for a small, indie production. That's where I can help you.

Even though I'm a successful documentary director now, I got my very first gig in production as a Music Supervisor way back in 1999. Since then, I have continued to not only license music for all of my own projects, but have helped a number of other film makers.

All together, I‘ve licensed more than 400 tracks in over 100 releases for both for colleagues and my own films placed in broadcast, internet, streaming, home video / DVD, film festival, or theatrical mediums over my career.

In 2024, I decided to formally create a music licensing and supervision company called Sonic Defiance. Sonic Defiance is dedicated to helping small productions and indie films properly clear music for productions.
